Standard Grade (Foundation/General/Credit) &
Intermediate (Level 1 & 2)
French Standard Grade
This course offers you the chance to improve your knowledge of the language and culture of France. You will concentrate on four main skills:
Speaking
You will improve your ability to communicate through role-play, group work and paired work. Oral work will be tested on an ongoing basis in Fourth Year.Reading / Llistening
You will read and listen to texts both for information and enjoyment.Writing
You will write essays in French and learn more about the grammar of the language.
Homework will be set regularly. You might be asked, for example, to learn vocabulary, read a short passage or write an essay.
German Standard Grade
This is a course for beginners who would like to learn more about the language and culture of Germany.
Bear in mind that you need to show that you have, at the end of Second Year, gained E or F level in French before you can be accepted to learn German.
Spanish Standard Grade
This is a course for beginners who would like to learn about the language and way of life of Spanish People.
Entry to this course is by recommendation, depending on French results at the end of S2.
