History S1/S2
Content
The course follows 5-14 Guidelines, concentrating on levels D-F. There are nine units of work, ranging from the stone age unit to the Rise of Hitler and the Second World War. Each unit varies in length and during the course you will be given the opportunity to carry out two individual investigations.
Assessment
Each unit, apart from the Investigations, contains assessments. These assessments are designed to identify strengths and weaknesses with a view to developing skills and overcoming any problems that are identified. Assessment results are recorded to develop a profile of your ability and they also serve to show how much progress you have made.
Classroom Arrangements
During S1 and S2 a wide range of teaching methods are adopted, depending on the work being done. You can expect whole class teaching as well as group work, individual work and paired work.
Expectations
Homework is given on a regular basis and you are encouraged to discuss any homework problems with your teacher. We expect you to have a positive attitude, to work hard and to bring along the appropriate equipment.
Any work missed because of absence must be caught up with as soon as possible, and again you are encouraged to discuss this with your teacher.
Finally
We hope that you will enjoy the course, develop your historicalskills and understand the importance of history to everyone.
