Geography S1/S2
Classroom Arrangements
We aim for a combination of class teaching, individual work, and work in groups or pairs. Detailed arrangements for each section of the course will be explained beforehand.
Homework
One homework exercise each fortnight is the normal pattern. The time you will need to do this will vary. Homework is explained beforehand, and as a full week is normally allowed between setting and completion, you will be encouraged to see your class teacher if you have any difficulties. It is usually possible to make use of at least one Geography room during part of the lunch break. Ask your teacher for details!
Class work
Any work missed in class should be caught up with as soon as possible. Work will involve a wide range of materials, content and approaches. We will expect you to bring pens, pencils, rulers and coloured pencils to every lesson.
Assessment
Your work will be assessed in a variety of ways – class and homework assignments, tests and even some group assignments. Details of your grades and your progress will be kept on an individual Profile Sheet, where you will also have the opportunity to make your own comments.
When you arrive in August, we will provide you with a booklet called
“Geography – a guide to first and second year”
