You will have the opportunity to learn how to use a computer to:-

a) Create documents using a word processing package

b) Create drawings using a graphics package

c) Create animations using an animation package

d) Create newsletters using a desktop publishing package

e) Create tables and charts using a spreadsheet package

f) Send E-mail to your friends

g) Use the Internet

h) Write programs using a programming language

i) Create your own web page

j) Create your own multimedia presentation

You will also learn about:-

a) The different parts of a computer system

b) How computers are changing society

Classroom Arrangements

Most of the time you will work individually at the computer (there is one computer each). However, there is the opportunity for group work during some topics e.g. making a computer systems poster.

Expectations

You will be expected to plan work carefully in your jotter before using the computer. You will also be expected to evaluate the work done on computer.

Homework will be given on a regular basis.

The subject will develop the following skills:-

a) Planning

b) Using a computer

c) Evaluating

d) Working independently

e) Working in groups

Assessment

You will be assessed either by end of topic tests or by being graded on an end of topic project. You will be profiled using the following element:-
Developing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) capability.
