Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
The Berwickshire High School has for many years been an active and enthusiastic supporter of the Award Scheme. The opportunity is available to students from Third Year upwards to participate in the scheme, at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
The Award Scheme is a programme of practical, cultural and adventure activities designed to aid the development of young people through:
Service to the Community
Skills (taking up an interest or hobby)
Physical Recreation
Expedition Training
The prime objective being that young people should have the opportunity and encouragement to recognise their strengths and to place their own self-respect and self-confidence on the solid foundations of shared experiences and achievements
Can You Help?
Do you love the great outdoors? Do you enjoy hillwalking? Could you help pass this on to pupils at the Berwickshire High School who want to do the Duke of Edinburgh Award? Following the enforced redundancy of Mr A Wishart, the Outdoor Education teacher and Duke of Edinburgh Award leader in the school, we will not be able to provide this kind of experience for our pupils without additional help. Finally, if you were interested in acquiring some form of outdoor education 'certificate', we could provide help in that respect.
If you feel you can help in this way, please contact the schoolFind out more
